Glam Slam: Shop Smart A to Z

I am ready for a little retail action. I’ll be shopping the sales this weekend and there are plenty of them! Who doesn’t love a good deal? People StyleWatch’s Fashion Director Kate Dimmocks shares some secrets on smart shopping with A to Z tips for getting the “Best for Less.”

C is for Consign
A great way to get something for less, or to earn some extra cash is to check out online designer consignment stores, says Kate Dimmok, Fashion Director, People StyleWatch. Since it’s online, there tends to be more movement with new inventory. This can be a fun way to try out a new trend you’ve been eyeing.

G is for Gift Cards
Gift cards are a nice incentive to get shopping, says Dimmok. Make sure the cards don’t get lost or expire, so it doesn’t turn into money wasted. An app like Gyft lets you store all of your cards in one place — on your phone!

I is for Itinerary
Have a clear idea of what you want to shop for, and write it down, says Dimmock. This can save you time while shopping, and helps keep your wallet in check too.

L is for Loyalty Programs
Join your favorite store or website’s loyalty program for a great way to get added benefits. Retailers have loads of shopping incentives from discounts to exclusive sales or free shipping.

V is for Versatile
When you are shopping, see if the item will work well with things already in your wardrobe. Try to determine if you can get a lot of mileage out of the item, then you may find it may be worth it.

T is for Tailor
Invest in a good tailor to get the best fit from your bargain items. Whether it’s fixing the sleeve on a jacket or the hemline of your dress, simple tailoring makes the outfit look more luxe.
