Glam Slam: The British Are Here!

Topshop, the beloved British retailer, is finally, finally, finally opening today in Los Angeles at the Grove.

I was lucky enough to get to preview the store yesterday after months of anticipation! The store is two floors and includes womenswear, menswear (Topman), shoes, accessories and a small makeup section. There are also Personal Shoppers on hand and lots of employees with cute British accents were flown in to make sure the opening goes smoothly.

And God Bless Topshop…there is a teeny, tiny maternity section. I will be able to get good maternity skinny jeans when I can’t fit in my regular jeans anymore. There was even a cute tee that said “Bump.”

Topshop obviously dominates when it comes to on-trend styles and there was plenty to choose from. I loved a pair of bold red and fuchsia print pants. There was an incredible selection of dresses…both casual and dressy.

My only problem is that since I’m pregnant, most of the stuff was off-limits to me! It was like being a kid in a candy store and not being able to eat 99% of what’s there. Total torture!

I ran into Le Catch blogger and fashion expert Marlien Rentmeester and asked for her opinion in the dressing rooms because I was having a hard time finding things to fit the bump. I got a little jealous watching everyone else try on all the fun clothes. It will be months and months before I can fit into most of the stuff there.

I ended up with perhaps the most boring purchase ever! I bought 4 tee-shirts…they do make the best tees…soft and long and over-sized. I also bought a pair of platform, or flatform, sandals and then I went a little crazy in the department where size or shape truly does not matter…accessories! I bought some neon necklaces and bracelets, which are fun and colorful and Spring-y.

I’ve been a fan of Topshop for years and I’ve hit Topshop locations everywhere from Malta to Madrid to Tokyo. London’s Oxford Circus flagship is the jewel crown of the retailers 400+ stores. With its five stories and 90 THOUSAND square feet of wall-to-wall fabulous fashion, it’s Britain’s largest fashion store and the largest store in the world. I’m so excited and So Cal is so ready for this British style invasion.
