Glam Slam: The Friday Five – Best In Show!

In a few weeks, I probably won’t remember who took home the acting trophies this awards season, but I will definitely remember who wore what! The road from the Golden Globes to the Oscars has been a stylish one… but there were definite standouts along the way. In honor of the end of awards season (sigh!) here are my top five favorite gowns that glammed up the carpets!

1) Kate Winslet, Oscars — She was spot on with her ensembles throughout her award-winning run, but my favorite was the Atelier Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati gown she wore on Oscar night. The asymmetrical black and gray dress managed to be unique and elegant and it fit her absolutely beautifully.

2) Anne Hathaway, Oscars — One of my style icons, Anne was amazing in a champagne Armani Prive gown. The details were dazzling – the dress featured paillettes and Swarovski crystal embellishments as well as an onyx and black crystal dragon brooch on the back! Talk about sparkle… and I haven’t even mentioned the nearly $750,000 worth of Chopard jewels!

3) Freida Pinto, Golden Globes — Fabulous Freida is the new “It” girl of Hollywood. It would be hard to make the gorgeous Pinto look bad… and Freida was a fashion tour de force all awards season. My favorite though was the mustard Christian Lacroix Couture gown that she wore to the Golden Globes. I loved it because of the color – Freida told us yellow is special to her because her character wears it throughout “Slumdog Millionaire.” Fashion with meaning… love it!

4) Angelina Jolie, BAFTAs — Angelina tends to stick with what she’s comfortable with – drapey dresses like the Max Azria she wore to the SAG Awards or basic black dresses like the Elie Saab she wore to the Oscars. That’s why this Armani Prive strapless sheath was such a knockout. Yes it was black but oh those pops of yellow were so unexpected! And the silhouette was completely different than what we’ve come to expect Pitt’s partner to wear.

5) Taraji P. Henson, Oscars — The Best Supporting Actress nominee was perfection in a layered crème colored Roberto Cavalli confection that showed off her fit physique. Taraji topped it off with my favorite accessory of the night – a fabulous Fred Leighton statement necklace. Talk about an unbelievable Oscar debut!
