Glam Slam: The Friday Five – Guilt-Free Goodies

Attention all Recessionistas! Sticking to a budget doesn’t mean you can’t have a few fun indulgences. Here are five ideas that won’t cause guilt-inducing damage to your bank account.

CHEAP THRILL
1. Go to the movies this weekend. See “Bruno”. It’s getting good reviews. An hour and a half of very un-pc laughs courtesy of the faux fashionista will take your mind off the economy.

BEAUTY BUY
2. Three-year-old Suri Cruise is already into makeup! Well, sorta. She and dad Tom shopped in Melbourne, Australia for Becca cosmetics for mom Katie, who is shooting a movie there. They bought three Becca Glossy Lip Tints, including the flattering “Fuchsia Crush.” I don’t know about you, but a nice lip gloss is an instant mood lifter and at $23, a cheaper form of retail therapy than my shoe and bag obsession. www.beccacosmetics.com

CELEB LOOKS FOR LESS
3. Walmart’s “Susie Rose” collection includes cute (and cheap!) wrap dresses inspired by designer ones worn by Miley Cyrus and Maggie Grace. The price? A mere $15. Yes, you read that right, 15 bucks! The super accessible line also features tanks, elegant blouses and linen cargo pants, with prices ranging from $8 to $15. Available in Walmart stores.

AFFORDABLE ACCESSORIES
4. Target debuts its latest cheap chic line. “Hollywood Intuition” is a collaboration with Jaye Hersh, owner of the popular Los Angeles boutique Intuition, a favorite of stars like Halle Berry, Eva Longoria Parker and Jessica Simpson. The line of on-trend accessories includes scarves, purses, statement necklaces and sunglasses. My fave – the leather studded cuffs – you get four for $10! Available in stores and online July 15th, prices range from $2.99 to $29.99. www.target.com

GREEN GOODIE
5. “Bear Naked Wipes are the ultimate guilt-free product – they are luxuriously soft and effective, with a price that won’t break the bank!” That’s Eco-Expert and Model Josie Maran on the wipes she created for a good cause. “They’re biodegradable and totally Earth-friendly, so you can feel great knowing that you’re supporting a product that’s safe for the skin and the environment. The best part is that a portion of proceeds goes towards saving the polar bears, so with the purchase of Bear Naked Wipes you’re actually giving back in a big way.” The money goes to the Natural Resources Defense Council’s Polar Bear SOS initiative. $12.00 at www.sephora.com
