Glam Slam: The Friday Five — Tall Order

Oh, to be tall. I was looking at a photo of the First Family and noticed that Malia has had a major growing spurt and now is nearly as tall as her statuesque mom Michelle, who is 5’11! Dad is 6’1, so I guess it’s in her DNA to be tall. She just turned 12.

While that might be an awkward age to be tall and perhaps towering over the boys in your school, some day, she will hopefully appreciate it!

The grass is always greener, they say, but as a very average 5’6, I always wished I were taller.

Today, five reasons why being tall is a good thing:

1. When you are tall, you don’t have to get your jeans or pants hemmed like I have to do for every single pair I buy. (Ha, you save money by being tall!)

2. Clothes are designed with tall women in mind and they look better on them. Pity the woman who wasn’t genetically blessed with the “tall gene” and has to alter everything: the length of pants, skirts, maxi dresses, even boots!

3. Tall women look skinnier. If you don’t believe me, then why do women wear high heels? (Height, whether it’s real or thanks to heels, helps elongate and slim!).

4. Tall women don’t have to endure foot and back pain from wearing said high heels for hours on end!

5. Tall women stand out in a crowd. Just ask Tom Cruise, who has famously been married to two striking, tall women!
