Glam Slam: The Oscars Are (Almost) Here!

“Backless dresses are huge and I don’t just mean backless, I mean backless all the way own to the tuckus backless… I think that’s something that we’re going to see a lot of,” predicts fashion expert Stacy London of the styles we will see on the Oscar red carpet this Sunday. “Also there have been some acid brights on the carpet so far this season, which are also something I think you’re going to see continue into this season and next season, honeysuckle, corals, pinks – those are going to be very, very big,” Stacy also predicts.

“For shoes I’ve seen tons and tons of metallics. Believe it or not, spikes, which we’ve seen in clothing and in bags in the previous season, are now really, really hitting shoes hard. And they look like… deadly weapons to be honest.”

I’ve worked with Stacy on the red carpet for several awards shows and she always has an opinion, which is why we love her. “I would say I have three current favorites when it comes to red carpet celebrities at the moment,” she says. “Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence.”

These ladies always bring it and Stacy shares her advice for all the stars and how they can look great on the red carpet from the first interview to the last. “Make sure you have a little bit of powder with you. Definitely make sure you have a compact with some lip-gloss. And make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes or at least putting insoles into your shoes so that they remain comfortable as you walk that red carpet, especially as you get more famous because Lord knows you are going to be out there longer.”

“As a stylist, I know that finding a balance between fashion and comfort can sometimes be tricky,” says Stacy, who is a spokesperson for Dr. Scholl’s For Her. Whether you’re on a red carpet or just on your feet all day, she shares a few of her tips for how you can be fashionable and comfortable at the same time.

STICK WITH THE STAPLES: Every woman’s wardrobe should be built around a few staple items that are versatile, good quality and classic in style. For instance, fitted pair of jeans, little black dress, white button down shirt and a comfy pair of black pumps can all be dressed up or down and should be constants in your closet.

Comfort tip: Stacy recommends Dr. Scholl’s For Her High Heel Insoles to help prevent foot aches and pains caused by high heels.

DAY TO NIGHT: Be prepared on those days when you’ll be heading straight out from work, whether it’s a dinner date or meeting up with the ladies. Choose an outfit that’s work appropriate (like a little black dress) that you can jazz up with heels and accessories before you hit the town. The key is to choose fabrics that don’t wrinkle easily and will still look great at the end of the day.

Comfort tip: Stacy suggests Dr. Scholl’s For Her Fast Flats. “These foldable, rollable and (of course) stylish flats are so compact, you can carry them with you wherever you go!”

EXPRESS YOURSELF: Don’t be afraid to be bold and wear items that showcase your personality. It’s easy to add flare to a classic look by incorporating a jeweled hair piece, a colorful belt or your fave accessories. And remember to have fun with it!

Comfort tip: Stacy likes Dr. Scholl’s For Her Sole Expressions – fun and stylish insoles that provide all-day comfort and come in the cutest patterns for any occasion.

SHOP SMART: The perfect pair of heels can take an outfit from drab to fab, but shopping for “the one” takes patience. Carve out enough time to hunt down a flattering style that you feel comfortable in and try to shop later in the day when your feet are a little swollen so you don’t purchase a pair that’s too tight.

FASHION FYI:
Anne Hathaway is already a fan and maybe she’ll be using ShowStoppers, a double stick fashion tape that helps everything stay in place, when she’s hosting the Oscars. Katy Perry included ShowStoppers in her wedding survival kits for her bridesmaids and I hear they are in all the Oscar Gift bags this year. Head to www.showstopshop.com for more information.
