‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star In Talks To Play ‘Thor’ On Big Screen

As Dr. Owen Hunt, “Grey’s Anatomy” star Kevin McKidd is certainly a hero to the patients he saves at Seattle Grace. But now, the Scottish actor might be set to channel his efforts into a role of super-heroic proportions on the big screen.

McKidd, who is known affectionately as “McArmy” on the hit ABC show, is in talks to play the title character in Marvel’s upcoming live-action “Thor” movie, a rep for the star confirmed to Access Hollywood.

In fact, at one point McKidd was attached to play Thor – the Norse God with the thunderous hammer Mjolnir – however, a change in the film’s directors put the role in flux. Despite the change, McKidd remains a candidate.

“Kevin was attached to play Thor when Matthew Vaughn was going to direct the film,” the rep added. “Matthew has since dropped out, but Kevin’s name is still on the short list.”

Other names rumored to be in the running to bring the comic book character to life are Brad Pitt, Daniel Craig and Kenneth Branagh, who is also reportedly in talks to take over directing duties.

Most know McKidd from his roles on the short-lived NBC time-traveling drama “Journeyman,” as well as his role as Lucius Vorenus on HBO’s “Rome” series.

His big screen credits include “Made of Honor,” “Hannibal Rising,” “Kingdom of Heaven” and “De-Lovely.”
