‘Grey’s’ Ellen Pompeo To Wed Own McDreamy

(November 13, 2006) — ?Grey?s Anatomy? star Ellen Pompeo is engaged to longtime beau Chris Ivery, her publicist confirms to Access Hollywood.

Ellen and Chris have been dating for nearly four years and the actress told Access? own Billy Bush that Ivery surprised her by popping the question on her birthday, Friday November 10th.

As for the ring, the 38-year-old record producer presented Ellen with a 3.35 carat emerald cut diamond and platinum ring by Tacori.

Pompeo, who stars as title character Meredith Grey on the hit medical drama, has been gushing about Ivery for months. She told Billy this past August that she was glad to have landed her fellow ? who she originally met in a Los Angeles grocery store, before ?Grey?s? took off.

?I?m really lucky that I met Christopher before this show,? she said. ?I think that because [of] my schedule I wouldn?t have had time to meet anyone . . . When do I get to go out or do anything? So he usually comes here when he is not working. I was lucky.?

Ellen also dropped hints in August that she was ready for a walk down the aisle with Chris, who was also reared in the Boston area.

?I?m the marrying kind,? she told Billy. ?We are waiting for the, I don’t know, the attention to not be so [crazy].?
