Guardians of the Galaxy: Zoe Saldana In Talks For Gamora Role

Zoe Saldana is no stranger to space or playing an alien on the big screen – and she’s in talks to do both again in Marvel’s upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “Star Trek” and “Avatar” actress is eyeing the role of Gamora, a green-skinned humanoid (and highly skilled assassin) who is the last of her kind in the universe.

She would star alongside “Parks and Recreation” and “Zero Dark Thirty” star Chris Pratt as the movie’s lead, Star-Lord, and Dave Bautista, who is playing Drax the Destroyer (a human resurrected as a warrior bent on killing Thanos – the villain seen at the end of “The Avengers”).

Other members of the “Guardians” – led by Star-Lord – include Groot (an alien that resembles a massive walking tree) and Rocket Raccoon (a genetically engineered critter with a love of explosives and weapons) – who are both likely to be CGI characters.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” is slated to blast into theaters on August 1, 2014, but first up, Zoe will reprise her role as Uhura in “Star Trek Into Darkness,” which opens on May 17.
