Guy Candy: ‘Invasion’s’ Daniel Craig

Once an actor takes on the role of Bond, he’s always Bond.

Though British star Daniel Craig could probably spend all day working out, doing just the occasional 007 film for the next decade, he is the kind of actor that’s all about stretching his theatrical chops. This weekend, we get a taste of the beautiful blonde as he lights up the screen on a Bond-free project — as Ben Driscoll in “The Invasion.”

Despite the chiseled chest we all know he sports thanks to 007’s last installment – “Casino Royale,” Craig keeps things undercover as he plays the medical confidante and friend of Nicole Kidman’s Carol Bennell. As the world gets turned into zombie-like aliens, the two try and figure things outlike what mysterious connection Bennell’s son has to the whole thing.

Despite his sky blue eyes, his manly presence and a smile that could melt a million hearts, Kidman’s character relies on the doctor for strength and friendship rather than romantic trysts.

Never mind, Guy Candy still loves seeing the handsome 39-year-old back on screen in another riveting, action packed picture. And, it won’t be the only time we will see the Chester, England-born star this year. The BAFTA nominated star returns, again opposite Nicole Kidman, in “The Golden Compass,” a fantasy adventure, opening December 7.
