Guy Candy: James McAvoy

With his deep blue eyes and tousled locks Scottish actor James McAvoy is one hot bit of Guy Candy. In December, he’ll be helping to heat up the big screen as Keira Knightley’s on-screen lover in Focus Features’ “Atonement.”

In this critically acclaimed film, McAvoy stars at Robbie Turner, a servant’s son who enters into a forbidden romance with Knightley’s wealthy Cecilia Tallis. Celia’s younger sister, Briony (Saoirse Ronan), who has a crush on Robbie, becomes jealous and after she tells a white lie, Robbie and Cecilia’s lives change forever.

The World War II set drama offers plenty of steamy love scenes and the couple’s forbidden romance help make it as emotionally stirring as “The English Patient.”

McAvoy’s role in “Atonement” would be considered a breakout one if this sexy Scotsman didn’t already have plenty of fabulous credits under his belt. Last year he made major headway as the morally ambiguous ‘Dr. Nicholas Garrigan,‘ alongside Forrest Whittaker’s ‘Idi Amin’ in “The Last King of Scotland.” He also charmed Anne Hathaway’s Jane Austen in 2007’s “Becoming Jane” and played Leto II in the SciFi channel miniseries, “Children of Dune.” He also played the charming Mr. Tumnus in “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”

Outside of his work world, the 5’7” 28-year-old is married to Anne-Marie Duff, 37. The two met while filming the British television series “Shameless,” and wed in October of 2006.
