Gwen Stefani Was ‘In Shock’ Over Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert’s Divorce: I ‘Went White’

Gwen Stefani still can’t
believe she and Blake Shelton ended up together, especially considering the
timing.

The music superstar got
candid in an interview for Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show on Wednesday, touching
upon how her painful divorce from Gavin Rossdale initially kept her from being
able to see past the emotional upheaval — let alone tell anyone about it.

“I didn’t know what I
was gonna do! I was in a panic! I was in hell. I was in the hell of my
life,” she told the radio host. “And I was going back to ‘The Voice’
in the middle of it with this big huge secret.”

What Gwen didn’t know back
then was that Blake was about to come forward with a similar bombshell of his
own, and tell his “Voice” colleagues that he and then-wife Miranda
Lambert were parting ways.

“We were mic’d up and
everything and Blake was like, ‘I gotta talk to you guys,’ and he basically
made his announcement,” Gwen said, explaining that the parallel between
her and Blake’s personal lives threw her for a loop.

“I think I might have
like, went white. I was in shock because it felt like he was exposing me, and I
just couldn’t even get my head around it,” she said.

Gwen told Howard that she and
Blake immediately began bonding over their mutual heartache, a development over
which she still marvels.

“We just started this
friendship, which was unbelievable that God would put us in a position to have
each other in that moment, in the exact same moment,” she said.

However, Gwen clarified that
despite their connection, the romance that ended up blossoming between her and
the country star was totally unexpected.

“I wasn’t trying to
start a relationship,” she told Howard, explaining that her anguish at the
time was still front and center. “I was trying to not die. There was no
plan.”

Gwen and Blake announced they
were dating in November 2015, and have seemed happy ever since. But according
to Gwen, wedding bells aren’t necessarily in their future – at least not yet.

“Oh
my God! Literally not answering that!” the mom of three said, when Howard asked if she and Blake are possibly
headed down the aisle.
