Halle Berry’s Bold, Bald Move

Halle Berry’s new film “Perfect Stranger” opens this weekend, but it’s her next film, “Nappily Ever After,” that has people talking this week.

The title of the film is getting some attention in light of the scandal surrounding radio personality Don Imus, whose racially charged comment about the Rutgers Women?s basketball team included the word “nappy.”

Should the title be changed?

“No,” Halle tells Access. “I’m gonna embrace it for what it is. This is not a derogatory title. It’s what the author titled the book, and the title is going to stay the same.”

One thing that won’t stay the same is Halle’s head — she plans to shave off her hair for the role.

And while it may be brave for Halle to go bald, she says it’s a necessary sacrifice.

“It’s a movie about sort of redefining ourselves as women,” she explains, “and we so define ourselves by our hair right now, most women I know. So it’s a real personal journey that I’m going to get to go on film. And if you fake it, then it’s not a real honest journey — and I really want to go on this journey.”

Halle Berry?s New Ambition

But when shown a photo that reveals what she’ll actually look like bald, Halle changes her tune a bit.

“Oh God, that’s horrible,” she says, and jokingly adds, “that’s why I’m rethinking this, because people keep showing me this.”

“Nappily Ever After” is set to begin production sometime this year.
