Halle! J. Lo! Christina! Stars Celebrate First Mother’s Day

From Jennifer Lopez to Halle Berry, this year’s Mother’s Day has special significance to several stars who will be celebrating the maternal holiday for the first time as a mom.

Halle Berry: After years of hoping, 41-year-old Oscar winner Halle Berry made a lifelong dream come true when she gave first to her first bundle of joy, a little girl by the name of Nahla Ariela on March 16, 2008. Halle and her fiance, Gabriel Aubry, welcomed the new arrival at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

“Gabriel and I are beyond excited, and I’ve waited a long time for this moment in life,” Halle said when she exclusively confirmed the news she was expecting, in an e-mail to Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell.

Jennifer Lopez: It was happy baby news for fellow A-lister Jennifer Lopez, who made her dream of having a baby come true twice over when she welcomed twins on February 22, 2008. Jennifer gave birth to Emme first, at 12:12 AM followed by Max, 11 minutes later.

Christina Aguilera: Pop singer Christina Aguilera also became a first time mom since the last time Mother’s Day rolled around, but she kept her pregnancy news a secret until she was too big for speculation to just be speculation.

Aguilera finally confirmed that she was expecting in November 2007, to the UK’s Glamour magazine before giving birth to Max Liron Bratman, her son with husband Jordan Bratman, in January 2008.

And quickly little Max Liron, which roughly translates as “our greatest song” in Latin and Hebrew, helped his mother out creatively.

“I’m very excited,” Christina blogged earlier this year about her new album. “I’m so inspired. I’ve got so much to write about. This next record, I want to have a lot of fun with it. I’ve been brainstorming for the last months of my pregnancy.”

Nicole Richie: Over the same weekend that Christina was giving birth to Max, Nicole Richie popped in the same hospital – Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai — where she welcomed her first child – Harlow, with boyfriend Joel Madden.

“She gives life a whole new meaning and a whole new purpose,” Nicole told People in an interview and photo shoot rumored to be worth $1 million.

Isla Fisher: Borat’s (Sacha Baron Cohen) main squeeze, fiancee Isla Fisher, gave birth to her first child in October 2007. The couple named their daughter Olive, but don’t expect them to talk about the news in public.

“You know, motherhood is my favorite topic in my personal life and I won’t shut up about it,” Isla said, according to the Daily Mail. “But it’s not something I want to discuss publicly just because of the amount of attention it draws.”

Still the experience has definitely changed her.

“I think that all experiences definitely change your perspective on life, especially motherhood,” she said.

Salma Hayek: During the nine months she carried her September 2007 arrival, Valentina, sexy Latina siren Salma Hayek appeared to be the most pregnant person alive. And though she is now back to her curvy form, Salma is happily relishing in being a first time mom.

“Every night, I don’t sleep, I watch her,” she told Sydney’s Daily Telegraph.

And her darling baby brings her doting mother nothing but joy.

“At some point during the night, she starts cracking up, she just laughs — and it makes me so happy,” Hayek said. “Some babies snore, mine laughs.”

Naomi Watts: At the age of 39, Australian actress Naomi Watts welcomed her first child – a boy named Alexander, with her partner, Liev Schreiber, in July 2007.

Motherhood “is everything everyone says it is and more,” the actress told Australia’s Herald Sun, in April. ‘‘There’s still so much to learn, I’m still figuring it out. It’s amazing how you can lose yourself in hours of doing absolutely nothing but staring, making funny faces and noises. I’m having a great time.’’

And not only has raising her “little Aussie battler” been delightful, but Naomi has reportedly even used her experiences to give advice to her pregnant pal Nicole Kidman.

Toni Collette: Naomi’s fellow Aussie Toni Collette (of “Little Miss Sunshine”) welcomed her first child in January with husband Dave Galafassi. The birth of her baby girl, Sage Florence, has been “so much more” than she expected. “I really don’t think I can articulate it,” the 35-year-old actress told Australia’s Herald Sun.

“It’s one of those experiences that you just have to go through to understand and I’d hate to lessen it by trying to pin it down with words,” the happy new mom enthused.

Bridget Moynahan: She may have split with quarterback Tom Brady, but motherhood has been a joyful experience for actress Bridget Moynahan. The former “Sex and The City” star (she played Mr. Big’s onetime wife Natasha) gave birth to son John Edward Thomas Moynahan in August 2007. She has kept quiet about motherhood since welcoming her darling little boy, but posed for a series of gorgeous pictures cradling him for OK! magazine.

Keri Russell: The star of “August Rush,” missed celebrating Mother’s Day last year by just one month. The now 32-year-old gave birth to her son, River Russell Deary in June 2007.

“It is truly overwhelming all of the new things you feel being a parent for the first time,” Keri told ePregnancy.com. “Those first smiles and laughs… they’re everything.”

Happy Mother’s Day!
