“Harry Potter” fans were overjoyed when it was announced that J.K. Rowling would be penning a spin-off of her massive wizard franchise – and now fans have three times as much to celebrate!
Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara told the New York Times that “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” – the new big screen project written by Rowling – will be a trilogy and described them as “three megamovies.”
The story will center on Newt Scamander, a “magizoologist,” a person who studies magical creatures. “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” was on the reading list for Harry, Ron and Hermione in the first “Potter” film in 2001.

The trilogy is neither a prequel nor a sequel and will start 70 years before the events of “Potter” and begin in New York City.
