HBO Announces Premiere Date For ‘The Newsroom,’ ‘The Comeback,’ ‘Getting On’

HBO has announced the premiere date for the final season of “The Newsroom.”

The series, from Aaron Sorkin, will premiere its third and final season on Sunday, November 9 at 9 PM.

And Valerie Cherish, the fictional character played by Lisa Kudrow, will return to HBO when “The Comeback” returns the same night at 10 PM.

“The DNA that we liked about Valerie is her in front of a camera. … What was happening last time on television seemed to be the birth of reality television and an actress’ need to be in front of a camera. And this time, we found a different way to get her in front of a camera because we wanted to evolve the character,” Michael Patrick King, the show’s Executive Producer, said over the summer at the Television Critics Association Tour, about the return of the comedy.

“Reality TV is not where we land,” he added. “It is where Valerie starts trying to land, and then she goes somewhere else when she gets cast on a show on HBO,” he added.
