HBO’s The Newsroom Season 2 Gets Premiere Date

HBO’s “The Newsroom” will return for Season 2 this summer.

Aaron Sorkin’s drama following a collection of people who work on a fictional cable television news show – “News Night” — will have its Season 2 premiere on July 14 at 10 PM ET/PT, HBO announced on Friday.

The second season will see the staff chasing a “mysterious tip which leads to a story that ultimately spins out of control,” HBO said in a release.

The cast of the show includes Jeff Daniels, who plays “News Night” host Will McAvoy and Emily Mortimer as Mackenzie Hale.

Also starring in the show are Olivia Munn, Dev Patel, Sam Waterston, John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill and Thomas Sadoski.

Back in December, Olivia told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover that prepping for the new season was affecting her sleeping patterns.

“I’ve been having a hard time sleeping lately,” she said at the time.

“I think my mind’s in overdrive,” she added. “I’m studying [Aaron] Sorkin lines non-stop, so I just can’t shut it off.”
