Healthy Hollywood: Fab Food Friday – Claire Danes’ Date Night Treat!

“Homeland” star Claire Danes and her husband, actor Hugh Dancy, are the proud new parents of a baby boy, but that doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy a date night! In fact, it’s super important for parents to spend time together just the two of them.

Claire and her husband were spotted having dinner at the trendy Asian-inspired New York City eatery, Pounds & Ounces. Chef Ted Cippollone recently added smoothies & juices to his lunchtime menu. Smoothies are the perfect on- the go nutritious power source for busy New Yorkers.

“Smoothies besides being one of the healthiest drinks you can have, because of the natural sugar and protein; also make a great meal replacement if you’re looking for a quick bite, but don’t really have time to sit and have a meal. It’s also a refreshing way to stay hydrated during those really hot summer months,” reveals Chef Cippollone.

To ensure Pounds & Ounces’ smoothies are a star attraction, Chef Chippollone developed a few tricks. “Whichever juice you decide to use be sure to have it as cold as possible. I just pour the juice in a cup full of ice and then pour the juice without the ice into the blender. Second, I add plain or flavored yogurt, it adds an additional sweetness to the smoothie and gives it that velvety texture.” Chef Cippollone shares with Healthy Hollywood.

Here are two smoothie recipes from Pounds & Ounces.
