Healthy Hollywood: Jennie Garth’s Plan For A Healthy & Happy 2013!

Even celebrities can have a tough year!

Healthy Hollywood is sure Jennie Garth is ready to say goodbye to 2012 and welcome 2013 with open arms.

The actress spent a good chunk of the past year going through a very public split with her husband of 11 years, actor Peter Fancinelli. Jennie reveals in the January/February 2013 issue of Health magazine that the breakup was actually a positive wake-up call.

“When I’m in excruciating pain, like what I’ve been through with my breakup and that grief and loss that’s just immobilizing, it helps to remember it only lasts for 13 to 15 minutes, max. And then it’s over. Your mind is ready to go to something else,” she told Health.

Instead of letting the divorce destroy her, Jennie reinvented herself. She got into amazing shape physically and emotionally. She shed 30 pounds and revved up her career with a new show in development with her friend and former co-star Luke Perry. “Every day, I just renew my healthy choices. I feel really good about myself now, and I don’t want to do anything to change.”

So, what is Jennie’s secret to losing and keeping the weight off? She eats clean and exercises five days a week. Plus, she does daily checks in with the scale. “I weigh myself every morning. If I don’t, before you know it, I’ll be up 10 pounds. It creeps. This morning, it was up 2 pounds. That’s OK. But if it’s up 6 pounds? I need to make adjustments,” she reveals in Health.

Jennie also shares in Health 3 ways to eat healthy.

1. Sneaky swap I love: Fage yogurt for sour cream or mayo. “I make this chicken dish that you’re supposed to coat in mayonnaise, but I use Fage. My kids don’t even know!”

2. My 173-calorie breakfast: Greek yogurt + slivered almonds or whole oats. “I throw some slivered almonds in it or some whole, raw oats – straight out of the box – and just grab a spoon and eat it on the way to driving my girls to school.”

3. My two-step dinner: Salmon with balsamic onions. “There’s something so tangy and sweet about it.”
