Healthy Hollywood: Shaun T’s Weight Loss Secret

Fitness guru Shaun T wants folks to flush the fat and get into shape. The man behind the Insanity workout craze has a new weight loss program.

He’s partnered with the New York-based online program Dietbet to create a fitness program, which challenges people to lose 4 percent of their starting weight in 28 days.

“For me, the reason I love it is that it is a way to keep motivated. Plus, I’m going to be doing live internet workouts,” reveals Shaun T to Healthy Hollywood.

According to Shaun T, a key to successful weight loss is to have a buddy system.

“The cool thing about a group setting in general is that you when you’re in that group and everyone is the doing the same thing you stay motivated. Not only are you trying to lose, but you also become someone else’s support system as well,” he adds.

Shaun T believes exercise and good nutrition go hand in hand. You need to consume healthy foods to lose and feel good. It’s not about just cutting calories yet still eating junk. Also, he doesn’t believe folks should eliminate treats completely.

“You have to live by the 85/15 rule, which is 85 percent healthy and 15 percent fun. You should never deprive yourself. Saying, ‘I’m never going to have French fries again’ is silly. If over 30 days, you eat 28 days really healthy and two of those days you have fun food, like a piece of cake or French fries, that’s not going to make you gain any weight back,” Shaun T stresses.

Also, it’s important to keep your weight goals realistic, notes Shaun T, adding, “You need to lose weight slowly. You don’t need to lose 50 pounds in 30 days –that’s never going to happen or be sustainable. If you eat five meals a day and they’re all really unhealthy. If for one week, you change one of them to be healthy and then the second week, you change two of them to be healthy, you’re still making progress. You’re eating less calories and working out you will see results.”

“Make small changes and those baby steps will turn into mountains of success,” concludes Shaun T.
