Healthy Hollywood: Wellness Wednesday – Grow Sexier (Not Older) Like George Clooney!

Gorgeous George recently hit the big “5-O” – and he’s never looked hotter. While, the saying goes ‘guys only look better with age’ – I beg to differ! I’ve seen a lot of men mature with big ‘ole bellies and less than fit form.

The June issue of Men’s Health hopes to inspire guys of all ages to grow stronger not older. The magazine has teamed up with the fittest (and youngest) guy to hit Capitol Hill, Congressman Aaron Schock, 29, to launch the “Fit for Life Summer Challenge,” which encourages readers to get in shape. On Aaron’s political agenda is to move his generation into physical action and get them to “embrace health and fitness as a personal responsibility.”

Men’s Health guru, David Zinczenko, stopped by Access Hollywood Live to show Billy Bush, anti-aging foods men should add to their diet at different ages.

Men In Their 20s:
At this age, men need to decrease stress. Graduating college, finding your first job, and possibly starting a family are all major life changers.

Stress-Fighting Foods:
Avocados: They have a rich, thick texture that can satisfy cravings and reduce those frantic feelings. Plus, this super-food is packed with monounsaturated fat and potassium, which may lower blood pressure.

Flaxseeds: Try sprinkling a tablespoon of ground flaxseed on cereal to improve mood. Researchers found these fiber-packed seeds have a healthy fat that improves the area of brain that processes sensory information, like pleasure.

Men In Their 30s:
At this age, the male body can’t handle major pig-out sessions like it used to. Men need to start watching fat intake or they’ll end up with a portly pooch.

Fat-Fighting Foods:
Chicken, eggs, and peanut butter: One of the best ways to fight fat is to pump your diet with protein. Researchers found that subjects who ate a high-protein diet compared to those who slacked on the protein lost twice as much abdominal fat.

Almonds: These nutrient dense nuts are packed with monounsaturated fat, protein, and fiber, which together contribute to feeling full longer. 15 to 20 almonds will do the trick for a quick snack.

Men In Their 40s:
This is typically the age of responsibility. During this decade, men often have a family, a busy career, and huge financial expenses. Plus, they need to put preventative health at the top of their wellness list.

Cancer-Fighting Foods:
Mushrooms: All types of mushrooms are stuffed with antioxidants and ergothioneines, which protect cells from abnormal growth and replication.

Kale: Leafy greens are your armor against cancer cells. Take kale – it’s rich in vitamins, potassium, calcium, iron, and folate.

Men In Their 50s:
If your health is good, this could be a man’s best decade! It’s at this point most men have more wisdom, time, and money. Still, they need to take care of their ticker.

Heart-Healthy Foods:
Milk: Strong bones, stronger heart. Calcium helps increase the levels of good cholesterol.

Macadamia nuts: These nuts contain the highest amount of monounsaturated fat.
