Healthy Hollywood: Wellness Wednesday – Padma Lakshmi’s Charmed Life!

Padma is one of those lucky ladies who seem to have it all! For starters, she’s model-gorgeous and is always on the red carpet for the hippest parties.

The Indian-born beauty is also a success on the career front. She hosts Bravo’s Top Chef, has written a series of cookbooks and will soon launch a second jewelry line. Padma has designed the PL by Padma Lakshmi line with HSN. “I wanted to do a line that’s accessible and a more affordable price point for younger people and a larger audience in general,” reveals Padma to Healthy Hollywood.

Padma showed her HSN collection to Healthy Hollywood. The pieces are all under $90 and it is a fun collection of layer-able necklaces, stackable bangles and ethnic-inspired earrings. The jewelry is very wearable and a lot of it is right in line with Healthy Hollywood’s bohemian spirit.

“I hope that women will buy a piece and then collect a second piece. It’s all designed to be layer-able. I wanted to do something that had an ethnic bent but more modern. A lot of the pieces are meant to be worn with jeans, or a simple dress, but can be worn to a cocktail party or a red carpet event,” adds Padma.

Padma is also juggling her booming jewelry business (and other ventures) with raising a nearly three-year-old daughter on her own. More power to the single mom!

The Bravo beauty takes great pride in feeding her daughter healthy foods. “I never gave her any baby foods, even when I was on the road with the show [Top Chef]. She’s on set with me and I always took time to cook homemade meals every day. Sometimes it was super simple, like sautéed eggs, peas and rice because that’s all I had time to do,” reveals Padma.

But, if Padma and her daughter at home, there’s a system to their meals. “I prioritize my eating. When we sit down as a family, we eat what’s most important first. We eat the protein and vegetables. And, then afterwards we eat the starch. So we aren’t just reaching for food,” explains Padma.

PL by Padma Lakshmi debuts on HSN on March 22nd. Check out all the goodies at www.hsn.com
