Hoda Kotb Gets Emotional On ‘Today’ Over Frank Gifford’s Death

Frank Gifford, NFL legend and Kathie Lee Gifford’s husband, passed away on Sunday and his death has hit the “Today” show crew hard.

Hoda Kotb, who co-hosts the show’s fourth hour with Kathie Lee, broke down in tears while talking about how KLG is handling Frank’s death on Monday.

“I went to see her yesterday and she is remarkably strong, I’m in awe of her even today,” an emotional Hoda said on “Today” on Monday morning, adding that KLG is “such a strong woman.”

Even while mourning the loss of her husband, Kathie Lee managed to comfort Hoda.

“It was funny. Kath said something to me yesterday. She said, ‘This is not a tragedy.’ She was holding my hands,” Hoda shared. “She said, ‘A 4-year-old girl having cancer is a tragedy…His life is a triumph.'”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Frank passed away on Sunday from natural causes. He was 84.

“We rejoice in the extraordinary life he was privileged to live, and we feel grateful and blessed to have been loved by such an amazing human being,” the Gifford family said in a statement on Sunday.
