Holly Madison Defends Baby Name Choice: My Daughter Won’t Be ‘Traumatized’

Holly Madison named her daughter (born on Tuesday) Rainbow Aurora and the new mom has already taken a lot of heat for the unique moniker.

The former “Girls Next Door” star took to her blog to defend her baby’s name, saying she has “always loved the name Rainbow.”

“There was a girl in my school a few years younger than me named Rainbow and I was so envious of her name because it was so pretty and unusual,” Holly wrote in a post titled, “On My Daughter’s Name.” “She was a perfectly normal, well-adjusted, sporty girl, by the way, so I’m not worried about my daughter being ‘traumatized’ by having an unusual name.”

The 33-year-old blonde said she hopes giving her daughter an unusual name will help Rainbow avoid making the same mistakes Holly made, and learn to be true to herself early on.

“I want my daughter to be proud of who she is and learn to speak up and stand up for herself at a young age,” she wrote, adding that she doesn’t care what “smug haters” say about the name choice. “I spent most of my life being a people-pleaser who worried about what other people thought or thought was cool and I don’t want that for her.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Holly and boyfriend Pasquale Rotella welcomed daughter Rainbow Aurora on Tuesday.

The baby weighed in at 7 lbs., 2 oz.
