Hot Hair Trends For 2014 (Glam Slam)

“In 2014, we are going to see more creative hair in general, and more individual variations on trends than ever before.”

That’s famed stylist Michael O’Rourke, the man behind both Big Sexy Hair and Rock Your Hair product lines, with hair predictions for the New Year.

“The next generation feels very strongly about customization,” Michael says. “Everything from their coffee, to their sneakers to their hair style needs to speak to their own individuality.”

Here, Michael predicts the hair styles that will be big in 2014.

London Street Style:
Punked out spikes, bleached out ends and a wild side swept bang. To achieve this ‘80s inspired look, use a stiff gel. Crucial for 14-23 year-old rebels and members of ‘80s cover bands. This cut works especially well for round face shapes and fine hair.

Slept-In Messy Long Layers:
Flip the head over and dry from the roots for lift and separation. Use a volumizing mousse on wet hair before blow drying. Finish the look with medium to firm hairspray and a texturizing powder. An unfinished finished look, perfect for a first date. This look says, “I’m not trying too hard but somehow I look amazing.” Best for fine to medium hair and a long face. Our “Size Matters Big Volume Root Lift” works great for this hairstyle!

Asymmetric Bob:
A variation on the classic style. A wild sexy broken bob has a severe two-inch crop on the opposite side which creates an asymmetric look that frames and balances almost any face. A rocking style for all ages and all hair types. To achieve extra shine and texture with this style, try our Bombshell Big Hair Powder!

WHAT IS OVER?
Flat straight hair is over, even hair that has been straightened will be showing some volume in the crown!
