How Nicole Kidman’s Sunday Rose Got Her Name

Sunday Rose, the daughter of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, was named after an artist’s muse, according to the actress’s father.

Kidman’s father, Antony, said the new arrival took her name from Sunday Reed, the muse of Australian artist Sidney Nolan.

“There was a lady named Sunday Reed who was a prominent patron of the arts in Victoria, [Australia]” Dr Kidman told Australia’s Daily Telegraph newspaper. “I have read a bit about Sunday Reed and her husband John — she was a key mover and shaker in the arts around the beginning of the century. The name Sunday struck me as being a nice name for a woman, so my wife and I mentioned it.”

As for Rose, the newborn’s middle name, that comes from the country rocker’s side of the family.

Urban’s brother Shane told a radio station on Australia’s Sunshine Coast, Rose was the name of their late grandmother.

“It’s a wonderful wonderful thing, I’m so, so proud,” Shane Urban reportedly said.
