How The Stars Prep For The Emmys (Glam Slam)

With the Emmys right around the corner this Sunday, we’re anxious to see what the stars will be wearing. We can’t wait to see the hair, the makeup, and of course, the dresses.

The stars, though, have a little more to think about than just their designer duds. Weeks before the Emmys, A-listers go through some serious beauty boot-camp to get red carpet ready. Glam Slam chatted with style expert Dawn Del-Russo, author of “101 Glam Girl Ways to an Ultra Chic Lifestyle” to fill us in on the behind-the-scenes beauty routines.

Seven days before:
“The best time to get a facial is seven days before a big event. Besides the benefits of circulation and anti-aging, they relax and encourage a peaceful mind. The Kate Somerville spa in LA is a favorite for Rashida Jones, who gets the Cyto Cell Energizing treatment.”

Six days before:
Stars of “The Big Bang Theory” Kaley Cuoco and Mayim Bialik opt for the Glo Science Glo Brilliant teeth whitening devices to make their teeth brighter and whiter. “Teeth have pores which can get clogged and cause a yellow tinge” when not whitened regularly. According to Dawn, “maintenance is key to showing up the day of the event with super bright pearly whites.”

Five days before:
“Stars can’t be seen with an ounce of cellulite, so they use a machine such as the BelleCore body buffer to prep their legs for tight dresses and high slits. The buffer increases blood flow and exfoliates to plump the skin.” Another good option? Celeb adored Prtty Peaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion, which has light-reflecting particles to conceal imperfections and make your gams glow.

Three days before:
Up to three days before a major event, celebs will cut carbs. “Cameron Diaz goes mostly green with veggies while J. Lo goes to broth as her midday snack to fill up” without adding calories. Additionally celebs will cut down on the alcohol a few days before “to prevent bloating and a puffy face.”

One day before:
“To be sure there are no chips and their nails and toes are perfectly polished, celebs head to the salon to get manicures and pedicures the day before a major event.” When the camera is on them, it’s important to have polished nails and trimmed cuticles, which “make hands look younger,” according to Dawn.

The day of the Emmys:
Stars chow down on a healthy breakfast the morning of the Emmys to keep them satisfied until the after parties. Dawn suggests a healthy breakfast of “egg whites, half of a grapefruit, and a cup of green tea. The egg whites provide protein and the fruit has fiber and good carbs to keep celebs feeling full. The grapefruit and green tea also aids in weight loss.” A hearty no-guilt breakfast? Sign us up!
