Howard Stern Says He’d Take Over For Simon Cowell For $100M

Howard Stern has spent his career behind the microphone, but if “American Idol” can afford him, he would be willing to start a new gig behind the judges’ desk.

“There’s isn’t a better job on the planet than sitting there judging that f******g karaoke contest,” he said on Monday’s broadcast of his Sirius radio show. “And, you know, if they’re gonna hire me, they gotta pay me a ton of f*****g dough.”

In fact, Simon Cowell’s departure from “Idol,” which will happen at the end of the current season, coincides with the end of Howard’s own contract with Sirius, which wraps up at the end of 2010.

But Howard said it would take nine figures to get him to the “Idol” judges’ table.

“Yeah, I would do that show for $100 million. It would be the best thing that happened to me,” he said, according to E!. “What a cush job — $100 million for four months! Who wouldn’t take that?”

And although names that have been bandied about to replace Simon and his signature scowl have included “America’s Got Talent” judge – and fellow Brit – Piers Morgan, Howard suggested he’s the only one that could get it right.

“If I do say so myself, I can’t imagine anyone else but me replacing him,” he reportedly added. “I mean, I don’t know. How else are they going to make that show work? Who knows how to broadcast and who knows how to be interesting? And who’s not afraid to speak their mind?”

Howard, who has a penchant for describing the ladies that visit his radio show in an explicit fashion, said he would comment on the “Idol” contenders’ looks too.

“By the way, if I was the judge on ‘American Idol,’ looks would play into the judging,” he reportedly said. “I’m gonna be frank with these people.”
