‘Idol’ Watch: Carrie Underwood On ‘Mean’ Judges

Carrie Underwood is performing at next month’s Grammy Awards show. She says she’s got a pretty good idea what song she’ll sing but she wants it to be a surprise.

Underwood says having a country music artist performing at the Grammys is good for the genre and there should be more country acts at awards shows.

Underwood is the 2005 “American Idol” winner. There’s been controversy about the harsh way the judges have treated the competitors this year. But Underwood says “they’ve always been mean” and “each year the judges do the same thing.”

She says the contestants should know what’s happening and they shouldn’t be trying out if they don’t like criticism.

Underwood is planning her second album after the Grammys. She says she would like to have a bigger role in writing songs for the second album.

Her debut album “Some Hearts” has sold more than fivemillion copies and
produced three number-one hits. Her new single is “Wasted.”
