‘Idol’s’ Randy Jackson Launches Dance Music Label, Signs Kimberley Locke

Randy Jackson has a seat on the “Idol” judges’ bench, his MTV show “America’s Best Dance Crew” and he recently launched a new label with an old friend.

The producer has opened the doors at DreamMerchant21, a dance label, and he announced his first signing to the imprint is “American Idol” Season 2 veteran Kimberley Locke.

Although known for his work with big-voiced diva singers like Whitney Houston and Celine Dion, Randy said he feels strongly about heading into the dance music world.

“I feel compelled with the music that I am hearing in 2010 to start this kind of label,” he said in a statement. “I want to make a difference within this genre and bring good energy and great music to all!”

Kimberley’s first single for the label is “Strobelight,” which dropped last month.

The song was produced by Warren Rigg and Tony Moran. Tony said in a statement he thinks that Kimberley, who placed third on “Idol’s” Season 2 behind Clay Aiken and winner Ruben Studdard, has just the right pipes for dance music.

“We are proud to know that such a gifted artist whose star is rising higher can share that star with us on the dance floor,” Tony said.
