Is Chris Evans Set To Play ‘Captain America?’

Chris Evans has reportedly been offered the lead role in “The First Avenger: Captain America.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris – who has already played superhero Johnny Storm in two “Fantastic Four” movies – has been offered the role of the shield-slinging American hero in up to three movies, plus, “The Avengers” movies.

According to the trade mag, Chris is also slated to film “What’s Your Number?” with Anna Faris, which is supposed to shoot this summer – the same time the new Marvel movie goes into production.

If Chris suits up in the role of Steve Rodgers, he will have beat out a slew of other actors who have been vying for the role, which reportedly includes Channing Tatum, “The Young and the Restless” star Wilson Bethel, “She’s Out of My League’s” Mike Vogel and Garrett Hedlund from “Tron Legacy.”

Comic book fans wondering how Chris can play both Captain America and Johnny Storm can rest easy. In August, FOX said it’s planning to reboot the “Fantastic Four” franchise with a new cast.

Marvel has yet to confirm the reported casting news and when contacted by The Hollywood Reporter, reps for Chris would not comment.
