Jacob Artist On Joining Glee: It’s ‘Totally Surreal’

Jacob Artist is one of “Glee’s” new stars, and last night he wowed America with a beautiful New Directions audition, which had a big similarity to the actor’s own try-out for the FOX program.

“I actually did sing ‘Never Say Never’ by The Fray for my audition for the show,” Jacob told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Friday’s Access Hollywood Live.

Joining the show has been “totally surreal,” and “a dream come true,” Jacob said on Friday.

It’s also been a thrill for his family.

“I actually have a 13-year-old sister who loves the show, so she was losing her mind when she found out [I was cast],” he said. “Everyone’s so excited.”

Jacob, who plays Noah Puckerman’s (Mark Salling) younger, half-brother, Jake, hails from Buffalo, New York.

He revealed he moved from the East Coast to the West Coast two years ago, despite an admission to Julliard for dance, to instead pursue his dream of acting.

“I kind of came out here. I was just super passionate about acting, but I never, in my wildest dreams, thought I’d be on ‘Glee,’” he said.

While he is playing a Puckerman, (although Noah doesn’t know Jake is his younger brother), fans are already wondering if the younger sibling will sport the famed mohawk.

“That’s the million dollar question,” Jacob laughed.
