James Denton Discusses ‘Tenuous’ Negotiations For ‘Desperate Housewives’ Cast

As the cast of “Desperate Housewives” continues their contract negations with ABC, series star James Denton said nothing is written in stone for the actors on the hit series.

“It’s very tenuous, it’s not as automatic as it seemed a few months ago,” James, who plays plumber Mike Delfino, told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Thursday’s Access Hollywood Live.

“I thinks it’s going to work out, the network really wants us, we all want to be there,” he continued.

James Denton’s onscreen wife, Teri Hatcher (who plays Susan Delfino), has reportedly inked her deal, but the rest of the cast have yet to sign – something that’s a little unsettling for the actor.

“None of us have been told anything. So, we’re all kind of in the dark,” he explained. “Until it’s done, its kind of scary, but they really want us back for two more. I’ve talked to all the women, who are happy and really want to be there. It’s probably logistics hopefully.”

As for James, he’d be content staying put on Wisteria Lane for as long as possible.

“They could drag me out of there feet first. It’s great job for parenting, I’m home a lot,” he told Billy and Kit.

Creator Marc Cherry’s future on the show, however, appears to be coming to a close as he has two projects in development.

“Marc’s probably going to move on to a new show, we’re prepared for that if that happens,” James added.

“Desperate Housewives” airs Sundays on ABC at 9 PM.
