Janet Jackson On Being The ‘Cool’ Aunt & Heading Back To The Studio

Janet Jackson has gotten a reputation among the children of her siblings as a bit of an advice-giver.

“They call me the ‘cool’ aunt,” Janet told George Lopez in an interview set to air on Monday’s “Lopez Tonight.” “I think it’s because when they get in trouble they come to me and I kind of protect them and give them advice that probably their parents wouldn’t want to give them. But I’m honest.”

Janet said she’s “lost count” of how many Jackson children she is an aunt to, but estimates she is auntie to around “twenty something” kids.

During her appearance on the Season 2 premiere of George’s show, his first following the premiere of Conan O’Brien’s new late night program for TBS, “Conan,” Janet revealed a little about her family-influenced eating habits as a child.

“Since I was a kid, my family became vegetarians and I didn’t want to be left out so I became a vegetarian as well… That’s a lot of discipline for a kid to give up candy and all that good stuff… but I bounce back and forth. There are times when I’m a vegetarian, times when I’m a pescatarian,” she said. “But I don’t eat meat… I’m still tempted…there’s so much that I love.”

In fact, Janet revealed she’s a big fan of a popular West Coast burger chain.

“In-N-Out… their fries,” she said of one of her favorite fast food products. “I love pizza. My favorite is Mexican food… that was Mike’s favorite — Mexican food.”

Janet, who is currently starring in Tyler Perry’s “For Colored Girls,” said she loves acting, but music is tugging at her a little bit.

“I’ve decided to go in [the studio] next year and take my time,” Janet told George. “Just relax, go at my own pace. No worries. No pressure.”
