Janet Jackson To Honor Michael Jackson At MTV VMAs

A little over a week after her late brother, Michael Jackson, was finally laid to rest, Janet Jackson will honor him at the MTV 2009 Video Music Awards.

Janet will make an appearance at the VMAs this coming Sunday, September 13, MTV announced on Tuesday.

Janet is set to help open the show “to honor Michael’s celebrated career,” MTV said in a release.

As first reported on AccessHollywood.com, Janet paid tribute to her brother last week, shortly before he was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary in Glendale Calif., through her Twitter account.

“I love you, Mike, and I miss you,” Janet wrote.

She signed the Tweet “Dunk,” Michael’s nickname for her.

Janet joined her family as her brother was interred at the cemetery in a service attended by several celebrities, including Elizabeth Taylor, Berry Gordy, Macaulay Culkin, Mila Kunis, Chris Tucker and Corey Feldman.

Michael Jackson died on June 25 at the age of 50. He is survived by his three children – Prince Michael I, Paris and Prince Michael II, aka Blanket.
