Jared Leto Gushes About Mom On Oscars Red Carpet

For Jared Leto, it was family first at the Oscars on Sunday night. The “Dallas Buyers Club” star and Oscar nominee brought his mom and brother to the awards show, and he told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush, what having them with him meant.

“This is a lot of fun. I brought my brother and my mother, so it’s a family affair today,” Jared said of bringing Constance and Shannon Leto. “We don’t live too far from here. [We] drive by here all the time and you know, it’s nice to be so close to home and it’s so wild to see this transformed and be part of the insanity. I’m feeling really lucky and really fortunate.”

Jared has picked up a host of awards for his performance as Rayon in “Dallas Buyers Club,” and if he continues his streak, expect more thanks for his family unit.

“It’d be wonderful because it would mean I have a chance to thank my mother and my brother and the people that have believed in me and that’s what’s important about these things,” Jared told Billy.

The actor went on to explain why he is so thankful to his mom.

“She comes from a very challenging background. She wasn’t born with a lot, but she somehow — against all odds — was able to do something special with her life and share that with Shannon and I, and you know, that’s a wonderful thing to teach your children as well as to give them,” Jared said. “So, I owe her everything. She’s the best.”

At Saturday afternoon’s Independent Spirit Awards, Jared picked up another award, and on stage, he dedicated it to – among others – his “future ex-wife, Lupita Nyong’o.” Billy asked why, “ex-wife”?

“June Squibb got in the way,” Jared said. “How could you resist? You know what I mean. Come on!”
