Jared Padalecki Previews ‘Super Intense’ ‘Supernatural’ Episode, Talks Jensen Ackles Directing

Jensen Ackles went behind the camera for Tuesday night’s episode of “Supernatural,” and it was a blast for his co-star, Jared Padalecki.

“Jensen directed the third episode of this season and I believe it’s his third or fourth directing episode and I love it,” Jared told AccessHollywood.com on the red carpet at the show’s 200th Episode Celebration in Vancouver on Saturday night.

With so much having happened between the brothers, and Jensen’s character, Dean Winchester, now a demon, Access asked if this time around it made things different.

“I think it probably makes it more difficult for Jensen than for me,” Jared said. “For better or worse my main and only concern is Sam Winchester, so whoever the director is, I need to protect Sam Winchester. It obviously helps when the director is one of your groomsmen, and also… the only actor you’ve worked with day and night for 10 years straight, so we have this kind of rapport with each other where he knows what I need, I know what he wants and vice versa. So it’s great. I love when he directs. He loves to direct. God love him because I’d rather get my sleep at night, but I think it made for a good episode.”

In Tuesday night’s Jensen-directed “Soul Survivor” episode, Sam will be continuing to try and help free his brother from the Mark of Cain.

“It’s super intense,” Jared said, previewing the episode. “So we saw in the second episode of Season 10 that Dean, as a demon, and Sam, whose been looking for Dean, meet face to face, and they haven’t met face to face in a long time, certainly since the end of Season 9 and in Episode 3 of Season 10, we take that to the nth degree and Sam and Dean are in a situation where not only do they see each other, but they can’t get away from each other and all the kind of tension and the craziness and the danger that comes along with that.”

Jensen has had quite a few fun scenes already as demon Dean, and the actor addressed what it’s been like to play the switch up to his character, when Access spoke to him at the 200th Episode event.

“It’s always fun to do something a little bit different — after 9 seasons of playing a character — to be able to kind of reinvent him in a different light or to do something different with him, or to play a different side or a different aspect or a different incarnation of him, it keeps the creative juices flowing,” Jensen told Access. “And I think it does great things for me as an actor being able to play this character, but it also does great things for the story, and great things for the audience that it’s refreshing, and I think it’s one of the reasons why the show is still on is because we continue to reinvent each other and we continue to evolve not only as a story and a show, but as characters.”

“Supernatural” continues Tuesday at 9/8c on The CW.
