Jason Alexander’s New Gig: Jenny Craig Spokesperson

Jason Alexander is ready to take on a new role – Jenny Craig spokesperson.

The former “Seinfeld” funny man is looking to drop the pounds – and is hoping the diet company can help after failed weight loss attempts in the past.

“It’s always been the same old story – the first 10lbs were gone in a jiff, but then Bamm! Back again, and this time, they’re back with a vengeance – they even brought friends. I just got to a point where I didn’t think there was a diet or program out there that would work for me,” Jason said in press release issued by Jenny Craig. “But I recognize that I need a new relationship with food and that I’m ready to stop talking about it and actually do it!”

Ironically, the comedian – who is following in the footsteps of previous celeb Jenny Craig endorsers Kirstie Alley, Queen Latifah and Valerie Bertinelli – was once a pitchman for fast food chain KFC.

And as it turns out, it may have been his recent stint on HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” during the “Seinfeld” reunion plotline, that made Jason realize it was time for a change.

“I looked at myself playing a character I started playing 20 years ago and yes, he had aged – but what was disturbing is that he was no longer in a body I cared to recognize,” he added.

The comedian is hoping to drop between 30 – 40 pounds on the program.

“We’re thrilled to have Jason come on board,” said Patti Larchet, CEO for Jenny Craig. “Jenny Craig has always been a program available for men, both through our in-centre and at-home delivery program. Jason typifies a lot of men who want to lose weight but are maybe a little wary of joining a weight loss program. We look forward to helping him achieve his personal goals through our one-on-one personalized approach and showcasing his journey in the public eye.”

But will we see Jason – whose campaign launches this month — showing off his soon-to-be-slimmed figure in a bathing suit like Kirstie Alley and Valerie Bertinelli have done?

“I will not be wearing a bikini for you,” he joked.
