First lady Michelle Obama cajoled Jay Leno into nibbling on apples, sweet potato fries and a pizza made with eggplant, green peppers and zucchini on the “Tonight Show,” breaking his long-held aversion for all-things-healthy in his diet.

NBC announced Thursday that the first lady will appear on “The Tonight Show” on Jan. 31, where she’s expected to talk about life in the White House, her fitness initiative for children and her upcoming book about the White House kitchen garden.

White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer says in a tweet that Obama will be on the show Tuesday. Obama will be traveling on the West Coast next week, raising money for his re-election bid and trying to boost public support for his jobs bill.
