Jay-Z: Republican Candidates Have ‘99 Problems’

Jay-Z’s headlining show at the Hollywood Palladium on Wednesday was an emotional night, but the hip-hop mogul made room for some political humor.

According to MTV News, the rapper urged the crowd to “make some noise” for opening act DJ AM, who made his return to the turntables after surviving a tragic plane crash last month. But on the night of the last presidential debate, Jay gave a shout-out of a different sort — to the Republican presidential and vice presidential candidates.

“I’m gonna get in trouble for this,” Jay reportedly said, “but f— it, this is freedom of speech.”

He then dedicated his hit “99 Problems” to John McCain and his “homegirl” Sarah Palin – “the one who says, ‘You betcha.’”

According to the New York Post, rival candidate Barack Obama played the song at a campaign stop in January.
