Jennifer Aniston: Fine With Being ‘The Lonely Girl’ – But Not On The Big Screen

Jennifer Aniston has weathered her fair share of break-ups played out in headlines and on the cover of tabloids. Some have even labeled the actress “the lonely girl,” which she says she’s fine with – but not when it comes to the roles she plays on the big screen.

“Yeah, that archetype has definitely attached itself to me, and you know what? It’s fine, I can take it,” Jen said in an interview with ELLE magazine’s September issue, referring to being labeled as the perpetually single woman. “I support women, men, and anybody who is in a place that’s not their strongest and who is ready to push forward.”

In fact, Jen said she wears her solo status badge with pride.

“If I’m the emblem of ‘this is what it looks like to be the lonely girl getting on with her life,’ so be it. I can make fun of myself, and I’ll bring it up as long as the world is bringing it up,” she continued. “I not going to ignore the pink elephant in the room.”

The 40-year-old actress, who has been linked recently to Bradley Cooper after splits from Vince Vaughn, Paul Sculfor and John Mayer, might be OK with being the single gal in her real life, but wants more in the roles she plays on the big screen.

“I wanted to make movies that I wanted to see and be in, and not just play the girl who can’t get the guy,” she said when asked about starting her production company, Echo Films.

The actress-turned-producer said creating projects from scratch has even helped her get through some of her own rough patches.

“I love the chance to tell stories that are accessible to people who are in pain or just want to escape, ” she said. “I think that process heals me in some ways.”
