Jennifer Hudson: Intimidated & Excited To Join Smash Cast In Guest Arc

Jennifer Hudson has conquered reality TV, the music world and the box office, and now she’s heading to scripted drama with “Smash.”

“I’m excited,” the actress, singer and newly-turned fashion designer (for QVC) told Access Hollywood earlier this week about heading to the musical NBC show for a guest arc in Season 2.

The Oscar winner said her character is still in development, but she is planning to make a “Smash” splash.

“I’m going to be a Broadway star — this successful Broadway star, which is going to be a great experience,” Jennifer said. “[It’s] quite intimidating, but it will be a great experience and I’m so excited to get started, which I’ll be starting on that probably within the next week or so.”

And like she did for the “Sex and The City” movie, she’ll be shooting on the East Coast.

“Everything is New York based, so I’m a New Yorker this time around,” she said.

Jennifer may have to balance her “Smash” schedule with her fashion designer duties.

She just premiered her new line for QVC, showing off the pieces at the New Museum in New York City.

The line goes on sale in September and Jennifer told Access she is looking forward to sharing her style vision with fashion lovers.

“Every, every girl [can wear this]… Every size, no matter who you are, Jennifer has something in her collection for you,” Jennifer laughed.

The star said she pulled some ideas from some of the items she currently has in her own closet.

“I interact with my fans a lot and they’re like, ‘Oh my God, I love that piece but I can’t afford that.’ Well, no, I’m going to remake it for you so you can afford it,” she added.
