Jennifer Lawrence: ‘The Hunger Games’ Premiere Was ‘Humbling & Incredible’

Jennifer Lawrence walked the red carpet on Monday night at one of the year’s most highly anticipated and exciting movie events, something not lost on the 21-year-old.

“Why is there so much screaming?” a beautiful Jennifer, wearing a glimmering golden Prabal Gurung gown, told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson on the red carpet.

“I thought like Tom Cruise or like Oprah was here… or like Prince Harry,” the actress said, looking around at the throngs of devoted fans. “Everyone’s so excited!”

The attention on Jennifer isn’t just limited to red carpets anymore. The actress explained to Shaun that she’s still getting used to the paparazzi being camped outside her home.

Pesky photographers aside, her newfound fame does come with a few unexpected perks for the fashionista.

“I get free clothes,” she said with a smile.

Jennifer told Shaun that even people who have not read Suzanne Collins’ dystopia novels – about children pitted against one another in a fight to the death – will take away a great deal from the world of “The Hunger Games.”

“It speaks to our generation,” the actress, who plays series lead Katniss Everdeen, explained. “It’s deep, it’s not stupid, and it’s a really good film.”

“The Hunger Games” opens on March 23, 2012.
