Jennifer Lopez Itching To Join ‘Glee’

She’s conquered the music charts and has a “Back-up Plan” currently on the big screen – but what Jennifer Lopez really wants to do is to join the “Glee” club.

While rumors swirled that J.Lo would join the kids at FOX’s McKinley High School for a cameo this season, during a new interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” the star revealed the timing just didn’t work out.

“I sat down with [‘Glee’ creator] Ryan Murphy and we talked [about] me doing something on ‘Glee.’ We want to. We want to do it but it doesn’t fit in,” Jennifer told Ellen. “They have it all mapped out for the next like, eight episodes, whatever is airing right now.

The stars have been lining up for guest appearances on “Glee,” since the pilot aired to such rave reviews in May 2009, including a slew of big names who will join the cast this season.

Olivia Newton-John, Neil Patrick Harris and Molly Shannon will all make cameos, while Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel have already appeared during the show’s run.

So while Jennifer still may appear one day, Ryan Murphy doesn’t want it to be a throwaway appearance.

“[Ryan Murphy]’s like, ‘Let’s wait and do it really right when you do come on.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah whatever. I’m a huge fan whenever you want,’” she laughed. “I kind of offered myself up.”

However, Jennifer did make a singing TV appearance on Thursday night, when she stopped by “Lopez Tonight” to serenade host and birthday boy George Lopez (he turned 49 on Friday). For her appearance, she donned a Marilyn Monroe-like wig and dress.

In other “Glee” news, it appears J.Lo isn’t the only mega-star chomping at the bit to join the show.

Britney Spears’ manager, Adam Leber, tried to light a Twitter fire for Brit Brit to get her shot on the show – or at least, a la Madonna, her music.

“Do you guys want to see a Britney Spears episode of GLEE?” Adam Tweeted on Wednesday, following that by launching the Twitter trending topic #BritneySpearsGLEE.
