Ooh La La! Jessica Alba looks tres chic at Paris Fashion week, oui?

I am a little obsessed with that cat-eye and that she paired it with a bold lip. I have always heard that if you go big with one feature, keep everything else toned down. That rule is changing though, says celebrity makeup artist Daniel Martin, who created Jessica’s look.

“Two’s a compliment, three’s a crowd [eye, cheek and lip],” he explains. “If you don’t build much other color around what you want to focus on, those two elements will always complement each other rather than clash.”

OK, so now we can play up two features instead of just one — fun!

Here is Daniel’s step-by-step guide to recreate Jessica’s retro-inspired beauty look:

Inspiration: Early ‘60s Hitchcock
“There was a ‘60s vibe happening to her hair as we started to get her ready and the film ‘The Birds’ by Alfred Hitchcock came to mind. A pulled out cat-eye and the bubble gum pink lip makes her look a bit more playful in such a lady outfit!”

How To:
“Since we focused her look mostly on the winged eye, I started there first before the complexion. Doing so allows for easy clean-up of fall out around the eye, which doesn’t interrupt her foundation.

For the eye, I like to start with a tight liner at the lash line first. I used Giorgio Armani Maestro Liquid Eyeliner in black and layered it to get my desired width. Once it’s at its thickness, I then wing out the outer corner. Then I take a pointed cotton bud with a little water and I erase the corner to the extension I want. This trick cuts the guess work out trying to get the perfect extension.

Once the liner is done, we curl the lash and apply a double coat of Bourjois mascara.

I applied Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation to even out and perfect the skin tone. Next, Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer # 10 was dabbed on the cheek bones for a bit of sculpting and By Terry Cellulrose Blush Glacé in Rose Melba was applied to the apples of the cheek. The result? A flawless, luminous complexion.
For the lip we did a bright pop of pink using Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy #505. No lip liner and straight from the tube.”
