Jimmy Fallon Signs Off ‘Late Night’ With Muppets & Andy Samberg

Jimmy Fallon ended his run on NBC’s “Late Night” on Friday, one day after Jay Leno hosted his final “Tonight Show.”

“I’m really going to miss being on TV at 12:37 AM,” Jimmy told the studio audience, during the opening monologue of his 969th episode, “or as my dad put it, ‘Couldn’t make it to 1,000, huh? Quitter.’”

The “Saturday Night Live” alum, who is taking over the “Tonight Show” from Jay later this month, continued to joke about his time slot, saying, “I’ll especially miss the battle for late-night ratings with my fierce rivals Craig Ferguson and a veggie chopper infomercial.”

Jimmy’s final guest was fellow “SNL” alum (now “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star) Andy Samberg.

Also on hand to help the host close out the show were the Muppets, who played The Band’s “The Weight,” with Jimmy on vocals and the drums.

At the end of the song, Jimmy walked out of the studio and down the hall to his new “Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon” studio, where he was greeted by his cheering crew.
