J.K. Rowling Publishes New ‘Harry Potter’ Story

Muggles, rejoice — there’s a new “Harry Potter” story!

J.K. Rowling has given her fans another glimpse of her beloved characters, Harry, Ron and Hermione.

The first new “Potter” story in almost seven years takes a look at Harry in his thirty-something years and is written as a gossip column by the character Rita Skeeter, who was seen in the best-selling books and hit movies.

The wizarding world’s most famous face is described as having a mysterious cut on his cheek (is he battling Death Eaters again?) and having “a couple of threads of silver” in his hair.

The author also writes that Ron’s “famous ginger hair appears to be thinning slightly.”

All three of the characters now work at the Ministry of Magic, but Hermione – dubbed “the femme fatale of the group” in the new story – is the deputy head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

The new story appears on the Pottermore website (which was crashing Tuesday morning, probably due to Muggles descending on the site to read the new work) as part of a series of Quidditch World Cup stories that Rowling has been penning to coincide with the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The author’s rep told Bookseller.com that Rowling has “no plans” to pen more “Potter” books, and the new story only appears on the subscription website.
