Jon Hamm: ‘The Movie Star Mentality Burns Out Pretty Quick’

Jon Hamm may play an arrogant, narcissistic executive on AMC’s hit show “Mad Men,” but the Emmy Award-winning star says he prefers a low-key lifestyle off screen.

“I fly very low on the radar,” Jon told Rolling Stone in an interview for their Sept. 16 issue. “Mark Twain said it: ‘I’d rather say nothing and be thought an idiot than open my mouth and remove all doubt.’ The petulant, s****y movie star mentality – that burns out pretty quick.”

Jon is featured on the cover of the mag as the dashing Don Draper (his “Mad Men” character), along with the show’s resident beauties Elisabeth Moss, January Jones and Christina Hendricks.

January, who plays Don Draper’s recent on-screen ex-wife, said she finds it difficult to have sympathy for her icy character.

“I don’t need to relate to her,” January said. “The biggest obstacle for me is not to judge her.”
