Josh Bowman: ‘I Probably Wouldn’t Be Old Enough’ To Star In Fifty Shades Of Grey

“Revenge” star Josh Bowman doesn’t think he’ll end up on the short list of actors who can play Christian Grey when “Fifty Shades of Grey” finally goes from the page to the big screen.

“I’m sure there are plenty of actors out there. I probably wouldn’t be old enough, but who knows,” the 24-year-old British actor told Access Hollywood at the Monte Carlo Television Festival. “It’s interesting. Depends how dirty they go with it, right?”

But, before casting begins, those involved with the big screen adaptation of E L James’ book should know Josh has been going through the pages.

“I’ve been reading that book,” he revealed to Access.

“You know what? I’ve been struggling to get through [it]. It takes about 300 pages until you get, ‘And Christian whipped me with his red riding crop along the chin,’” he laughed. “And I’m like, ‘Come on! It could have happened in Chapter 1 to save me all this time!’”

Josh said the steamy novel isn’t for every reader, but he’s having fun with it.

“I don’t think it’s required reading, but it’s interesting, you know?” he said.

After heading back from Monte Carlo, Josh has about a month before he has to report for duty on ABC’s “Revenge” Season 2, as Hamptons playboy Daniel Grayson.

“It’s gonna be fun,” Josh said of returning to the set in late July. “I’m really excited to get back, continue taking the character where [showrunner] Mike Kelley thinks it’s gonna go and I can’t wait to work with all the other actors there. We’re like a little family. [It’s] a lot of fun.”
