Julianne Hough stars as Sandy in “Grease Live!” on Fox at the end of the month, and she
told Access Hollywood she already has Olivia Newton-John’s blessing.
“I met her a few months ago for the second
time and she knew I was doing ‘Grease’ and playing Sandy, and I mean,
immediately she was just like, ‘You’re the perfect Sandy. You’re gonna be
amazing,’ and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I got her blessing,’ By the way, that
weight is off my shoulders. At least she’s OK with it and now I feel like I can
just go do it,” Julianne told Access Hollywood on the blue carpet at the
Fox portion of the Television Critics Association Winter Tour last Friday.
“But yeah, she’s amazing, and she’s everything you’d hoped she would be
and more. She’s incredible.”
Rehearsals for the live musical reached a new point
recently, when the cast, which also includes “Les Miserables'” Aaron
Tveit as Danny Zuko and Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo, moved from rehearsal rooms to
stages on a studio lot in Los Angeles.
“Now that we’re actually on our stages at Warner Bros., I mean, it felt real before. Now, it’s like hyper-drive, what is happening? This
is incredible. We’re on different sound stages, so we’re travelling on golf
carts going from set to set,” Julianne said.
Being on the Warner Bros. lot has allowed Julianne to meet
up with one of her CBS comedy-starring pals, but she’s also hoping to run into
a comedian she’s a fan of from NBC’s “Undateable.”

“‘Two Broke Girls’ shoots there, so Beth Behrs —
we’re friends and so I’ve seen her, and I’m kind of obsessed with Chris D’Elia
and they shoot their show there. I definitely want to go to one of their live
shows,” she said, adding, “I’m dying to go see a live taping.”
“Grease Live!” premieres
Sunday, January 31 on Fox.
